Welcome to I.T.M
Really? Another Blog? Really?
Okay, so if this was your reaction to learning that I was starting a blog, you’re forgiven. More than that, you’ve got company as I totally sympathize. In fact, last year I was so tired of the onslaught of new blogs that I almost bought a tee shirt that read “More people have read this t-shirt than your blog.” So I get it.
Why, then, the blog? I realized that as much as I thought I didn’t like blogs, I found myself spending more and more time on them. But not all of them. In particular, I found myself enjoying what I’d call “resource blogs” where someone with some interest and expertise in a subject (and often multiple subjects) offered insight and information about something I was interested in. Sometimes that might be digital photography, other times marketing, and still others social psychology, and so on.
I’d contrast these expertise/resource blogs with what I’d call digital-diary blogs, where people just share, well, whatever – family photos and news about their kids and what antic their pets were up to, etc. (Not that I think there’s anything wrong with that; it’s just not my cup of tea.) So I decided that I’d like to start a resource blog that helped people connect faith to everyday life. So while I hope pastors and church leaders will regularly find things of value here, I’m even more interested in reaching everyday Christians who just want to think more about how they faith makes a difference in everyday life.
Sometimes the material will be on a given subject that I have professional experience with, like preaching or Bible study. Other times it will be about subjects I’m keenly interested in and, while no expert, have done a lot of reading or research into, like parenting or stimulating the creative process.
While I look forward to these kinds of posts, I’m even more excited about two other kinds. The first are curated posts – that is, where I find (or someone sends me: hint, hint) some article or video or link that’s just really helpful in some way that I can pass along for your pleasure and inspiration. 2) The second kind is a resource post, where I put up something that I hope others can take and use. In fact, I’ll be kicking off the first of these coming up very shortly, as I start posting a daily Lenten devotional following Mark’s account of Jesus’ Passion next Wednesday, Feburary 22. In the future I hope to offer study guides to popular and worthwhile books and movies and the like. Who knows where it will go. If you’ve got ideas, suggestions, or feedback, feel free to email me at davidjlose@gmail.com.
And, if a year from now, I – or most of you – are still thinking “Really? Another blog? Reallly?” well, then, I suppose I’ll go back to contemplating snarky t-shirts. 🙂 Thanks for reading!

Really looking forward to this site – If I find anything useful elsewhere I will send it to you
Thanks for all your efforts David – you have made a difference to many of us working preacher types and more importantly to those we serve.

I look forward to reading your blogs. I apprciate what you have said and written about “Finding the Meaning …”. Hitherfore I have found most enlightening the Lutheran on-line and the UCC “Stillspeaking Daily Devotional”. I have thought of your viewpoints as I read these. I am looking forward to more.
Laypersons love this material. I have shared with many.
Would love to see this linked to Facebook, as I’d see updates in my newsfeed. Somehow I forget to go check out the other blogs . . .
I’m almost embarrassed to admit this, Tracy, but I don’t have a Facebook account. Yikes, I know, I know…. But you can always subscribe. 🙂
No Facebook account, but you do WordPress, Feedburner, and podcasting??? Hmmmm. Something tells me that “resistance is futile, and you will be assimilated” by “Zucker-borg” before too long! 🙂
my thougts exactly: another blog! But thank you for doing so. Already, I have found it so useful, I have bookmarked it in my favorites.
I’m glad for your blog, too. I have been a faithful listener to “Working Preacher” for over a year now (even though I no longer preach weekly – but my wife does, and I am forever singing your podcast’s praises and telling her, “Go hear what Working Preacher has to say about that text!”) and I will look forward to being a faithful reader here!
Thanks David! I am looking forward to this undertaking and seeing what more I can glean from you and other working preachers!
PS I like snarky T-shirts!
Thanks David, for this opportunity to glean more information in the faith as the Spirit enlightens you to share. I was blessed when attending a GIFTS Workshop in Minot when you were the presenter. Praise God for your ministry.

I just finished reading your sermon on Day1 on John 3:16. I need to tell you David how much I have appreciated your stuff … this blog, the reflections on the Markan Passion, your comments on the Working Preacher site, your thoughtful and insightful comments, as well as the studies you have prepared. Even in the few places I disagree with you, you have opened my mind and enlarged my vision to the possibility of more wow moments in preaching, in worship, in life. I have been at this craft for 30 years this May, and somehow in grace I keep being led to places and persons where I find renewal and creativity for continuing the journey. You are one such person. From the very depths of my being, thank you and thanks be to God for you.
