Ash Wednesday in India
I spend a lot of time thinking about the state of the church in North America. What’s going right. More often, what’s going wrong and what we should do about it. For that reason, it’s incredibly helpful to remember that Christ’s Church is a lot bigger than I am, or my denomination is, or even all the churches in my continent are. Jesus said (and we will hear these words in a couple of weeks) that when he was lifted up he would draw all persons to him (John 12:32). When I see a picture like this one – of a young woman in Hyderabad, India, offering prayers with her community – I am reminded, humbled, and encouraged.
This picture was taken by Mahesh Kumar A.of the Associated Press, and you can find it and other photos capturing events of the previous week at Time’s LightBox site.
Dear David,
this is one darn good website you and others have put together. Keep it up and keep broadening our horizons of God, faith, life, people. I have committed to reduce my web time during Lent. This is one site I turn to every day and it has been a great addition to my Lenten journey.
Thank you for the hard work and blessings to you and all who work with you together on putting up fresh and relevant content for us to read and discern.

Thanks, Michael, very much! (And, for what it’s worth, I think an internet- or media-fast is a great idea!)
Blessed Lent,
David
