Monday/Sunday
So here’s a suggestion that I think would almost instantly reverse the church decline we’ve all heard about, read about, experienced, and are tired of.
I think Sunday is on the wrong day. You see, Sunday is on the weekend. And we’ve gotten pretty used to the weekends being, well, you know, the weekends. Filled with free time in which to hang out with friends, take kids to soccer games, catch up on slee, etc. If people aren’t going to church on Sundays as much as they used to, it may be because they don’t think of church as something they should have to do during their weekend free time but think of it more like school and work. It’s important, sure, but obviously not a weekend kind of thing.
So I suggest we start a petition, a drive, even a movement to move Sunday out of the weekend and make it the first day of the workweek. I doubt Monday would mind giving up its place. After all, nobody really likes Mondays anyway, but if you moved Monday to the weekend, it would be a day everyone looked forward to.
Okay, so there it is: let’s flip Sunday and Monday – people would look forward to Monday more and start going to church on Sunday more because this is the day they’re used to going to school, work, and other non-weekend stuff. Everyone’s happy.
Make sense? Well, consider, if we’d already made this flip and yesterday (Sunday) was today, then this would still be April Fools’ Day and the aim of this post perfectly clear. J
Have a great week!
🙂
nice.
