Dutch Flash Mob Recreates The Night Watch
It’s snowing here. Yes, 4-5 inches of slushy, wet, heavy, but still very cold snow fell last night and today making a mess of driving, public transportation, and flights.
And it’s April 11th.
Some friends and I have agreed that the best way to deal with this is to trick ourselves into thinking it’s really late February, not mid April. But I when I stumbled upon this short video of a rather creative promotional by the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam’s famous art museum, I found another way: humorous diversion.
The museum, eager to promote it’s re-opening, staged a recreation of one of native son Rembrandt’s famous paintings, “The Night Watch.” But rather than simply have costumed figures pose in a public space, they orchestrated an elaborate if brief drama by which to bring all of the players – some swinging in by ropes, others arriving on horseback – into the final picture. (Oh to have been one of the unsuspecting shoppers at the mall they choose that day!)
So whether you’re living with snow, ice, sun, or rain, I hope this brings a smile to your face as well.

Cute!!
This is awesome! Went to the Rijksmuseum on Monday to see The Night Watch. Heard about flashmob but had no idea how brilliant the reenactment was until today. Well done!
