Luther and Beyond
Two more videos today as we conclude our commemoration of Reformation Day.
1) The Reformation started by Martin Luther grew well beyond Luther, of course, and on this day of All Saints it seems appropriate to direct our attention to the many men and women who picked up and continued Luther’s work to reform and renew the church by announcing the good news of God’s grace.
Toward that end, the first video I’m going to share introduces the group, movement, and platform known as Refo500. I don’t yet know a whole about it. I actually stumbled across its site and resources while searching for visuals to use with some of the posts this week. But as I’ve begun exploring the site, I’m intrigued by the desire of the group to explore the historical, political, theological, social and cultural dimensions of the Reformation with an eye toward how the Reformation can continue to inform our lives in both church and world today.
And I have to admit that I’m taken with the name. “Refo” obviously refers to the Reformation that took place almost 500 years ago; hence Refo500. But there is also a reference to the past in the “Re” and a desire to look forward in the “fo” which I find rather engaging. Take a look when you have a chance – it’s just 3 minutes – and explore the larger Refo500 site at your leisure.
2) And then, just because I can’t resist, one more Luther Rap song, this time by Ryan Gerlack. 🙂

2) Thanks to Carrie for pointing out the Luther Rap video to me.
