The Christmas Surprise
It has been an unusually — and delightfully! — busy week-before-Christmas at the Lose household. And I know exactly why that is — because for the first time in fourteen years we are surrounded by family! Which meant time with my parents over my birthday and a trip to Longwood Gardens and then a trip north to see a niece participate in the New Jersey Ballet’s performance of the Nutcracker. What fun, all the way around!
This has meant that I’ve missed a couple of posts of late, and yet it seems to me that a little more time to enjoy friends, family, and the holiday is a good trade. And so I’m going to leave you with one of my favorite Christmas videos below and then take the rest of the week off and resume posting the beginning of the new year.
This video was produced by the same great folks from St. Paul’s Church in Auckland, New Zealand, who gave us the wonderful “The Christmas Story.” This time around, they focus on the totally unexpected character of God’s arrival. Rather than take the world by storm or force, God comes in vulnerability, hidden in the form of a baby and later in the cross. My favorite line, repeated through out, is “They’ll never expect that!” Indeed.
Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year!
David

Have a very merry Christmas and a blessed new year! Thanks to the unexpected baby we can expect the unexpected joy!
Thanks David – Thrilled for you that you got time with family! And the video, well it is awesome. I didn’t get to worship much at 4 today, and this popped up on my email as I was preparing for 11 worship (when I probably won’t worship much then either) – and this was my worship tonight (Dec 24). I Soooo needed this proclamation.
And I wasn’t expecting that!!!
I wasn’t expecting that.
