In Christ Alone
On Tuesday I shared some hymn writing advice from Stuart Townsend that I thought would be helpful for preachers as well. For those of you who don’t know Stuart, I thought I’d share this unique performance of one of his best know hymns (written with Keith Getty) performed by David Wesley, whose rendition of “Wonderful, Merciful Savior” I shared last fall. I’ll be honest, I don’t agree with Townsend’s theology, particularly around the cross. In particular, I don’t think the cross was the means by which to satisfy God’s wrath, something I’ve explored in greater depth in Making Sense of the Cross. Apart from that, however, it’s a beautiful hymn and seems a good way to move through Friday and into the weekend.
