Word & Image
Jim LePage is a graphic designer. He’s also a Christian who has tried, and failed, several times to read the whole Bible.
His solution – marry his passion (visual design) and his desire (read the Bible) by coming up with a design for each book of the Bible. The result is rather amazing. Most of his designs focus on a single verse. The verses he chose don’t necessarily sum up the book in question, rather they give you an angle into the book and, just as importantly, called forth from Jim an interesting design.
Here are a few of my favorites from his Word project.
Philemon
3 John
Acts (Looking for a visual to kindle interest in Pentecost, anyone?)
James
2 John
You can find many more of Jim’s designs, as well as the story of his project, at his website. Be warned – they are visually arresting, thought-provoking, and sometimes very much on the edge.
PS: Thanks to Maria Papova at Brainpickings for pointing me to Jim’s work.
